Distillery Storage Vessels and Cask Filling Solution

Spectac International is currently working on a very exciting project producing distillery storage vessels and a cask filling solution for an Irish-based company. The use of appropriate distillery storage vessels for whiskey are obviously vital to maintain the quality of the product. The client want to provide their customers with storage conditions that are second-to-none and it was Spectac International’s extensive experience in producing suitable whiskey storage vessels that helped us to secure the business.

Distilling vessels need to be robust and manufactured to the highest of engineering standards to guarantee good storage and preservation of the alcohol.

Our lead process engineer and our manufacturing engineers worked carefully with the project manager to design and manufacture a new whiskey storage vessel in line with the project brief.

Cask Filling Solution

Our client had additional requirements too as they sought to develop a cask filling solution for the whiskey at their site. Spectac International was in the unique position to offer a complete turnkey solution – having the capacity and capabilities to deliver on both elements of the project. Our 30 years’ experience producing complete distillery systems allowed us to provide both the storage vessel and the cask filling solution – this comprehensive service set us apart from our competitors.

There were economic benefits for our client also as we were in a position to offer highly competitive costs and to deliver quick turnaround times. And of course there is a reduction in risk for clients when they deal with a single supplier – making the process much smoother than trying to co-ordinate a number of third parties.

As part of the project, our highly skilled team of engineers also designed a tanker offloading bay and electronic measuring equipment to track the volume of spirit being received from the tanker at the plant.

Challenges

At the outset, two main challenges were highlighted that our Project Manager had to overcome. Height restrictions at the location made some elements of the project more difficult. Our team had to work closely together with our client to overcome this issue successfully.

The second challenge was the short turnaround time that the client required for the completion of the project. We were able to meet this requirement through careful management of the progress of the works and by assigning more resources where necessary. The fact that we have invested in the latest technologies, such as our automated plasma seam welder also helped us to drive time efficiencies.

The project is due for successful completion in early 2017 within the original time-frame agreed and within budget.
